Membership Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions govern new Membership applications and Membership renewals. REIQ members are bound by these Terms and Conditions and the REIQ Constitution and By-laws. REIQ membership and its rights are personal to the Member and are not transferrable.

Definitions

“Eligible Member” has the same meaning as defined in the REIQ Constitution and By-Laws;

“Eligibility Requirements” means the eligibility requirements promulgated by the REIQ for Membership; 

“Member” means the individual or entity that has applied for Membership and has been accepted and approved as a member of the REIQ; 

“Membership” means membership of the REIQ; 

“Membership Application” means the application for Membership prescribed by the REIQ from time to time; 

“Membership Fee” means the fee payable for relevant membership category as determined by the REIQ from time to time and specified in the REIQ By-Laws

“REIQ” means The Real Estate Institute of Queensland Ltd; 

“We” means the REIQ; 

“You” or “Your” means the person or entity making application to become a Member and/or the Member; 

“Us” means the REIQ; and 

“Website” means www.reiq.com

1. Application for Membership

1.1 Application for Membership is subject to Eligibility Requirements and payment of the Membership Fee; 

1.2 You are required to provide accurate and complete information and it is Your responsibility to keep Your details up to date once Your Membership is approved; 

1.3 You will receive a confirmation email upon successful approval of Your Membership. Subject to clause 6, Your Membership is deemed accepted on the day You receive the email. 

1.4 We will only process completed applications, and reserve the right to reject Your application for any reason. 

2. Membership Fee

2.1 The Membership Fee may be paid by a single upfront annual payment via a credit card. 

2.2 Membership Fee for an Accredited Agency may be paid by either: 

2.2.1 A single upfront annual payment via a credit card; or 

2.2.2 A bi-annual direct debit (total of two (2) payments), payable in advance. 

2.3 We may increase the Membership Fee from time to time. You will receive at least one months’ notice of the intended increase by email and by notice on our Website.  You may cancel your Membership if you do not agree to the increased Membership Fee. 

2.4 We may suspend your access to one or more membership services if the Membership Fee is not paid within the stipulated timeframe. 

3. Autorenewal

3.1 Your Membership will be automatically renewed each year, on the anniversary of the date you joined REIQ (Anniversary) unless you wish to terminate your membership subscription. 

3.2 Unless You specify otherwise, the Membership Fee for the upcoming year will be charged to the same credit card you used on joining. 

3.3 If you wish to terminate your Membership, you must give us notice at least 30 days prior to the Anniversary. If we do not receive notification from you, your Membership shall be auto-renewed and the applicable Membership Fee payable. 

4. Change of membership details 

Only the Member or a person authorised in writing by the Member may request a change in membership details. 

5. Refunds

5.1 Subject to clause 5.3, the Membership Fee is non-refundable.  

5.2 If you cancel your Membership, you will not be entitled to a refund of the Membership Fee applicable for any period paid in advance and will continue to gain access to all member benefits and services until the end date of your Membership.  

5.3 The REIQ will not provide a refund of the Membership Fee unless either:
(a) your Membership Application has been declined; or 
(b) your Membership is terminated by the REIQ for reasons other than your breach of the REIQ Membership Terms, REIQ By-laws or REIQ Constitution. 

6. Continuing professional development (CPD) 

6.1 All Members must undertake CPD activities equivalent to 100 points each year unless the REIQ has granted an exemption in writing, or as otherwise required by law (if applicable). 

6.2 Members are expected to personally maintain a record of their yearly CPD activities. 

6.3 The REIQ may conduct CPD audits to monitor compliance. If selected for audit, the selected Member will be notified and requested to submit CPD records and other supporting documentation. Failure to comply with a request for evidence of CPD training may result in termination or suspension of Membership. 

6.4 Failure to comply with applicable CPD requirements may result in termination or suspension of Membership. 

7. Accredited Agencies  

7.1 Accredited Agency Members (ACC Members) (including letting agents) must maintain professional indemnity insurance (PII) cover of not less than $1,000,000. 

7.2 ACC Members must provide a copy to REIQ at the time of application and/or renewal of policy. 

7.3 Applications for Membership will be processed for provisional membership pending receipt of a copy of the policy schedule being received at REIQ within 30 days of application. 

7.4 In order to maintain Accredited Agency status, ACC Members must provide up to date employee details as required by the REIQ from time to time, to maintain correct membership records. Failure to comply with this clause may result in suspension of Membership. 

8. Voting rights

All financial Members have the right to vote in Board Elections and at the REIQ Annual General Meeting provided they are an Eligible Member. 

9. Privacy

9.1 Member’s Personal information will be collected, used, stored and managed by the REIQ in accordance with our Privacy Policy. 

9.2 Without limiting our Privacy Policy, You consent to: 

9.2.1 Your identifying details being made accessible on our Website; 

9.2.2 Receiving educational, marketing and promotional materials and emails from Us and our approved third-party providers. 

We may update these Terms and Conditions, from time to time. The updated Terms and Conditions will apply from the time of posting on our Website.
