Industry News

Property icon Max Christmas has sadly passed away at age 81. However, his legacy as one of Australia’s most famous real estate agents and businessmen will live on for decades to come.

Max, otherwise known as Mr Gold Coast, was inducted into the Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards Hall of Fame in 2010. He was a colourful character with a competitive spirit who achieved so much – from an apprentice carpenter in Surfers Paradise, to National SLSC champion, local real estate legend and later, Gold Coast City Councillor. Max started and shaped the careers of many real estate agents and was a clear market leader; a man of integrity and honesty. He was a true visionary, and his thinking was beyond his time.

Max was instrumental with the development and marketing of Sanctuary Cove, Sea World, Hamilton Island, Marina Mirage, Sheraton Mirage, Bond University and Warner Brothers Movie World, Royal Pines and many other signature developments. In 2016, he was granted an AM recognising his contribution to the real estate industry. The REIQ wish to acknowledge his great work for the real estate industry and wider Gold Coast community. Max was a truly inspirational man, and he will be sorely missed.
