The REIQ’s sector-specific working groups name new Chairs

Welcoming Chapter Chairs

The Real Estate Institute of Queensland (REIQ) is welcoming six new Chapter Chairs, who will help steer the REIQ’s sector-specific working groups, known as Chapter Committees.

Determined by the Committee members at the first meeting of the term, the Chapter Chairs for 2026-27 have now been selected by their peers and announced as:

  • Auctioneers Chapter Chair - Jack Barrett, Torres Property
  • Business Brokers Chapter Chair (returning) - Roland West, Link Business Brisbane
  • Buyer’s Agent Chapter Chair - Jayne Robbins, The Informed Buyer Pty Ltd
  • Commercial & Industrial Chapter Chair (returning) – Jason Luckhardt, NAI Harcourts
  • Property Management Chapter Chair - Rebecca Fogarty, Blackbird and Finch
  • Residential Sales Chapter Chair - Jason Rose, Elders Real Estate Ipswich

REIQ CEO Antonia Mercorella said the Chapter Committees ensured the REIQ was continually tapping into sector-specific experiences and expertise and reflecting that in the products and services, training and events, and advocacy it delivers.

“While most people first associate real estate with residential sales, a wide variety of professional sectors and specialisations all fall under the real estate umbrella,” she said.

“Each sector requires specialist skills and operates under varying pieces of legislation.

“As the peak body of such a broad and diverse profession, we recognise the importance of consulting and collaborating with our members from all fields of real estate.

“This feedback loop allows us to better cater to their needs and produce highly relevant resources that complement their specific fields and market segments.”

Ms Mercorella said the committees are made up of professionals who volunteer their time and expertise to give back to their sector, shape it’s future and be part of the solution.

“The Chapter Committees provide us with insights and ideas from a range of experiences and perspectives, as well as acting as a valuable sector sounding board on the REIQ’s education, training, events, best practice guidelines and policy positions,” she said.

“They hold meaningful discussions around how the REIQ can help raise professional standards and legislative compliance, and create a sense of community in their sectors.

“The Chapter Committees are also a great place for members to constructively channel any legislative or day-to-day frustrations, practice issues, and conduct observations.

“If members would like something raised at the next Chapter meeting for their sector, I encourage them to reach out to the relevant Chair to see if the committee can assist.

“We appreciate the dedication of our Chapter Committee members and Chairs to bettering the profession and look forward to working with them over the next two years.”

Our 2026-27 Chapter Committee members were appointed by the REIQ Board of Directors for a term of two years which commenced in January 2026. Chapter Chairs were determined at the first meeting of each Chapter which have occurred across February.
