The beginning of a revolution

In 2004, the world was abuzz with flip phones, low-rise jeans, and OutKast’s Hey Ya! topping the charts. Amid this backdrop, Direct Connect was born from a simple yet powerful idea: to take the hassle of utility connections off the shoulders of movers.

What began as a small service helping Australians connect utilities quickly grew into an essential partner for real estate businesses. Our founder’s personal frustrations with moving back to Australia inspired a solution that has since transformed the industry. From dial-up internet connections to broadband, we’ve grown alongside technology and the needs of our clients.

Innovating the real estate experience

In the early days, seamless utility connections were a novel concept, and getting real estate agents on board was no small feat. But persistence and innovation turned this idea into an industry standard.

We implemented technology solutions, like our first referral integration via the REST Button with Rockend. This trailblazing technology enabled real estate clients to refer their tenants via their CRM platform, significantly streamlining the referral process. We continue to optimise the client experience by developing interactive dashboards and offering a diverse range of self-service options.

A New Chapter of Growth

In 2014, Snowy Hydro, one of Australia’s leading renewable energy generators, acquired Direct Connect, propelling us to new heights. Operating from the historic Bryant & May match factory, we’ve facilitated more than 2 million services for movers, partnering with top real estate brands and embracing cutting-edge technology. Our collaborations with leading property management software platforms such as MRI Software, PropertyMe, and Snug reflect our vision to streamline and enhance the moving experience.

An Australian proptech leader helping real estate agents differentiate their businesses

As a leader in the Australian proptech industry, we’ve integrated with over 15 major players to create seamless solutions for real estate professionals and we’ve been a proud sponsor of the REIQ since 2013. From tenant applications to utility connections, we’ve consistently invested in technology that empowers agents to focus on their core business: selling and renting properties.

Our partnerships, such as the exclusive Raine & Horne Connect utility connection service and collaborations with First National and Elders, highlight how we help real estate brands differentiate themselves in a competitive market.
