How REIQ Training Helps You and Your Business

REIQ training is widely regarded as the premier program in Queensland for people wishing to join the real estate industry or further advance their professional development. With courses on offer for wherever you are in your real estate journey, REIQ training can help you achieve your career goals. Learn more about REIQ training here.

Rob Doorey, host of the Property Brief podcast recently sat down with Jeff Irvine, the REIQ Training Services Manager, to discuss how REIQ training can help you not only upgrade your current qualifications without having to study, but also get more money for your business.

How you can upgrade your qualifications easily

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a system that allows you to get credit for your experience in the industry. Irvine says the systematic approach that the REIQ has with the RPL process is a unique point of difference that sets the REIQ apart from other registered training organisations.

“We say about three to five years will give [the students] access to the portfolio of evidence that we support them to collate as part of the process. It could involve working through forms, references, and other documents that the students have access to,” he says.

“Then we marry these up to each unit associated with our programs and undertake a competency conversation. This involves our trainers working individually with the students to pull out more information to formally recognise their skills they already have.”

As an example, if you have your registration certificate and you have five years of experience as a practising sales agent, you may be eligible for an upgrade to a full real estate licence. You would then go through the RPL process and the training team at the REIQ would then decide if you should be formally recognised based on your experience.

How to get more money for your business with an REIQ Apprenticeship

Formerly known as an REIQ Traineeship, an REIQ Apprenticeship is a wage subsidy that can help you train new staff or upskill current staff with the latest and most up to date training courses available.

Irvine says apprentices will not only learn the nuts and bolts of the real estate profession through 18 units of competency-based training but are also mentored by real estate professionals who are committed to quality in a structured workplace training program.

“The apprenticeship program allows the students to be trained by the workforce. They will be learning the industry requirements as well as the practical elements from the agency. Also, the incentives that are now available from the government are great for the employers,” he says.

The opportunity to secure the government subsidies related to the REIQ Apprenticeship program will end on 30 June 2022, so be sure to register your interest as soon as possible – click here to learn more!
