REIQ Board blends experience with fresh perspective

Board of Directors announced, AGM

Board 2026

The Real Estate Institute of Queensland (REIQ) has announced its new Board of Directors, bringing together longstanding experience, regional perspective and a fresh voice for the next generation.

At the REIQ’s Annual General Meeting today, the REIQ warmly welcomed a new Young Director and two returning Directors following the results of its election.

Peter Camphin returns as General Member Director, Daniel Burrett continues his service on the Board in a new capacity as Regional Director, while Lauren Brewer joins the Board as Young Director.

REIQ CEO Antonia Mercorella congratulated all three Directors and said the appointments brought a valuable combination of continuity, experience and new energy to the Board.

“Our Board needs to understand the realities of our profession from different vantage points, across generations, career stages, disciplines and geographic areas,” she said.

“It’s wonderful to welcome Peter back, and his almost five decades of real estate and leadership experience will continue to be an enormous asset to the REIQ.

“Daniel has already made a valuable contribution as our former Young Director, and it’s particularly pleasing to see him progress into the Regional Director position, retaining his knowledge while continuing to bring a strong regional perspective to the Board.

“We’re also delighted to welcome Lauren as our new Young Director, bringing fresh thinking and experience spanning technology, innovation, marketing and stakeholder engagement.

“Peter, Daniel and Lauren each bring something distinct to the table, and we look forward to their collective contribution as the REIQ continues to advocate for and support Queensland’s real estate profession.”

Next generation steps forward

Ms Mercorella said the particularly strong interest in the Young Director position was an encouraging sign for the future of the profession.

“The Young Director position was hotly contested this year, with a number of impressive candidates campaigning strongly for the opportunity to represent their peers,” she said.

“That level of interest and engagement speaks volumes about the enthusiasm of the next generation to have a voice and play an active role in shaping the future of their profession.

“It’s also a powerful reflection of the REIQ’s enduring relevance. As generations change and our profession evolves, people still want to step forward, contribute and be part of what comes next.

“Lauren brings a fresh, forward-looking perspective to the Board, backed by practical experience across different facets of the profession and a clear understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing the next generation of real estate professionals.”

Ms Brewer brings nine years of experience across the real estate sector and currently serves as REMAX Australia’s Marketing & Innovations Manager, working across technology, systems and marketing. She was also a 2026 REIQ LIFT Ambassador.

Her appointment also continues a longstanding family connection with the REIQ, as the daughter of former REIQ Chair and recently appointed Life Member Peter Brewer.

Following her election at today’s AGM, Lauren Brewer said she would not only represent young professionals, but would champion innovation and tech for all.

“I’ve had an eye on real estate for most of my life. I’m often impressed by the incredibly hardworking people in our profession that are so passionate about their careers and communities, and it is an honour to add my voice to support them,” she said.

Experience continues around the Board table

Peter Camphin returns as General Member Director, having first joined the REIQ Board in 2020 and serving as Chair since 2025.

With a real estate career spanning nearly five decades across Australia and New Zealand, Mr Camphin has held senior leadership positions across major franchise groups and remains passionate about professional development, business performance and strengthening the profession.

Daniel Burrett moves from Young Director to Regional Director, having served on the REIQ Board since 2024.

A Toowoomba business owner and former REIQ Darling Downs Zone Chair, Mr Burrett brings practical regional experience alongside a strong focus on digital transformation, industry wellbeing and ensuring regional realities are represented in Board decision-making.

Farewell to Andrew Acton

Ms Mercorella thanked outgoing Regional Director Andrew Acton, who did not renominate, for his service and contribution to the REIQ Board.

“Regional representation is incredibly important to an organisation representing a profession as geographically diverse as ours, and Andrew has helped ensure those perspectives have had a strong voice around the Board table,” Ms Mercorella said.

“We sincerely thank him for his contribution and wish him every success.”
