Real estate voice joins RTA Board with appointment of Connie McKee

RTA, Board appointment

Connie McKee

The Real Estate Institute of Queensland (REIQ) is welcoming the appointment of respected real estate professional and industry educator Connie McKee to the Board of the Residential Tenancies Authority (RTA).

REIQ CEO Antonia Mercorella said Ms McKee’s appointment adds valuable new stakeholder perspective and diversity to the RTA Board.

“Connie brings over four decades of hands-on industry experience as a practising property manager, small business owner, trainer and advisor,” Ms Mercorella said.

“Her deep understanding of property management issues, combined with her passion for education, compliance and best practice, makes her an ideal addition to the Board.

“This Board refresh introduces strong and diverse voices, and we’re pleased to see the real estate profession represented through Connie’s appointment during a period of significant change in the rental sector.

“The inclusion of a practitioner who understands the on-the-ground realities of Queensland’s rental market will undoubtedly provide valuable insights to the RTA’s work.”

The REIQ also acknowledged the appointment of incoming RTA Chief Executive Officer Steve Davidson and Chairperson Brook Monahan, alongside two additional new Board Directors Paul Spiro and Colin Cassidy.

“We congratulate Steve Davidson on his appointment and look forward to working with him in his new role, as he leads the RTA into its next chapter,” Ms Mercorella said.

“The REIQ has enjoyed a long-standing, collaborative relationship with the RTA, and we are confident that will continue under this new leadership team.

“As the state’s peak body for real estate professionals, we’re committed to working constructively with stakeholders, including the RTA, to support fair, balanced and effective rental outcomes for both property owners, managers and tenants.”

Ms McKee has been a real estate practitioner for over 40 years having owned three real estate businesses specialising in all aspects of property management and sales. She has also been a trainer, assessor and real estate speaker and advisor for more than 25 years.

This includes being a founding member of the REIQ’s member-exclusive Property Management Support Service (PMSS). Connie has also led education sessions across Queensland on legislative reforms and continues to train aspiring real estate professionals with the REIQ, assisting in the development and education of the next generation of property managers.
