Flood Support, Financial Assistance

The REIQ would like to extend its support to all Queenslanders who have been impacted by the recent flood disaster. No matter how you've been affected, this fact sheet will provide you with the support that is available to you.

Support for those impacted by floods

If you are experiencing or at risk of homelessness, contact the Homeless Hotline on 1800 474 753 (24 hours/7 days).

Information for tenants and property managers regarding rental properties affected by a natural disaster - click here.

Financial Assistance for individuals and families

Australian Government Disaster Payment - Eligible individuals can claim $1000 per adult and $400 per child - click here or call 180 22 66.

Australian Government Disaster Recovery Allowance - A short-term payment of up to 13 weeks for eligible people for loss of income - click here or call 180 22 66.

Personal hardship financial assistance - available to people in certain areas - click here or call 1800 173 349.

Essential household contents grant - Grants of up to $1,765 for eligible single adults and up to $5,300 for eligible couples/families to replace/repair household contents - click here or call 1800 173 349.

Structural assistance grant - Grants of up to $10,995 for eligible single adults and up to $14,685 for eligible couples/families for home repairs - click here or call 1800 173 349.

Essential services safety and reconnection grant - A grant to help you reconnect essential services damaged by a disaster - click here or call 1800 173 349.

Brisbane City Council rates rebate - a $250 rebate off flood-affected Brisbane ratepayers' next rates bill; deferral of April quarter rate notices; and payment extension for impacted ratepayers facing financial difficulties - click here or call 3403 8888.

Help for Small Business

Extraordinary Disaster Assistance Recovery Grants - $50,000 grants for affected small businesses who experienced damage from the flooding event - click here or call 1800 623 946.

Disaster Assistance (Essential Working Capital) - loans of up to $100,000 for small businesses to assist with cash flow for expenses such as paying rent and wages - click here or phone 1800 623 946.

Disaster Assistance Loans - loans of up to $250,000 to help small businesses who experienced direct damage to fund repair and reinstatement costs for the business - click here or phone 1800 623 946.

Community Recovery HUBs
