realestate.com.au makes online auctions even easier

The ban on outdoor auctions saw agents, vendors and bidders flocking to online auction portals, and now realestate.com.au has made that process even easier with the release of a new feature called Online Auctions. The update allows agents to seamlessly link potential buyers through to their vendor’s preferred online auction platform and, just a week after the launch of their Digital Inspections feature, represents another way in which REA Group is supporting the real estate sector during a time of dramatic change.

Tim Bradley, REA Group General Manager – Core Products, says the turnaround time for these features has been pivotal. “We wanted to minimise any disruption and ensure that buyers and sellers could continue to transact virtually given the new government restrictions,” he explains. “We’ve had an amazing response to the launch of Digital Inspections with almost 30,000 active buy listings on realestate.com.au now featuring a virtual tour of properties.”

Much like the Real Estate Institute of Queensland, REA Group feels compelled to do what it can to help the real estate sector in adjusting to rapidly evolving market conditions. “We’re doing everything we can to support the property industry as we navigate the new ways of working,” says Chief Sales Officer Kul Singh. “Auctions have played a part in how we’ve come to transact real estate for many years so we’re pleased to be able to help deliver this online capability to our customers and their clients to keep that tradition alive.”

The proliferation of online auctions has been remarkable, according to auctioneer and AuctionNow founder Damien Cooley. “Online auctions connect people no matter where they are,” says Cooley. “Just last month we sold a property in Bellevue Hill where the owner was in lockdown in Germany, the successful bidder was in Surry Hills and our auctioneer was in Double Bay.”

And now, at a time when real estate needs it most, REA Group has made it even easier to sell and buy via auction remotely. The feature is available now to all Queensland agents advertising on realestate.com.au.
