New REIQ Graduate Membership to guide entry-level agents

The Real Estate Institute of Queensland (REIQ) is welcoming new entrants to the real estate profession with the launch of a purpose-built first year membership called Graduate Membership.

REIQ CEO Antonia Mercorella said Graduate Membership would replace Student Membership, as the peak body moved to ensure new entrants to the profession received support when needed most.

“We’ve created an entry-level membership that recognises the first year after course completion is a critical period of time when graduates can get the most value from their REIQ membership,” Ms Mercorella said.

“We know that graduates straight out of the blocks of study are hungry job hunters and eager to set themselves apart from other candidates, and a membership with the State’s peak body can give them that competitive edge.

“Employers recognise that a candidate with an REIQ membership is backed with industry-leading support and education, helping to lift some of this burden from their own internal resources.

“Once they’re up and running on-the-job, fresh graduates can benefit greatly from the unlimited advisory support, timely industry updates, continuing professional development courses, and regular networking exposure that an REIQ Graduate Membership offers.

“It’s all about starting out on the right foot, having best practice guidance to navigate the path, and refining the skills needed for a successful professional journey ahead.”

REIQ Graduate Membership is available to those who have completed a Registration, Full Licence, Auctioneering, Resident Letting Agent of Certificate 4 course within two years from obtaining their Statement of Attainment.

Ms Mercorella said students who complete their course with the REIQ can activate a free one-year-term REIQ Graduate Membership, while graduates from other training providers can become members with an introduction offer of $99.

“We want to engage and empower all agents in the foundational year of their career, and embed best practice principles from the get go,” she said.

“Along with future graduates, we’re also offering recent graduates the opportunity to take advantage of this membership offer, and we encourage them to check their eligibility and register.”

While the new membership category commenced this month, it is open to past students with a Statement of Attainment in one of the eligible courses dated from 27 April 2021 onwards.
