Market Confusion & Resistance to Personal Information Collection

Business, Journal, Property Market, Sales,  Principals,  Salespeople

The REIQ has received reports of community confusion surrounding personal information collection at open home inspections and auctions, and what the purpose of said collection is actually for. To help settle any confusion and counter any unlikely buyer backlash, the REIQ has designed an additional poster for real estate professionals to display at the entry of all future open home inspections regarding personal information collection (until the health directive is repealed).

Enclosed as a downloadable file here, the poster is designed to educate the wider community about the legal requirements for this collection. As you view the poster, you’ll find it clearly states the purpose behind the requirement for real estate professionals to collect personal information (trace collection), the length of time that information must be held for (28 days), and the provisions that mandate that this information must be collected (Direction #10/Public Health Act). For further details about the Direction, access it here.
