Industry Advocacy

The REIQ is responsible for staying a step ahead of the game when it comes to government policy changes and legislative issues affecting the profession.

We ensure the interests of real estate professionals are represented in dealings with parliamentarians, government departments, community stakeholders and state and national media.

As the industry’s collective voice, the REIQ advocates on a diverse range of issues relevant to real estate businesses as well as to property owners and investors, aspiring homeowners and communities across Queensland.

Our activities include staying ahead of the curve on proposed legislation changes, providing submissions on policy to government, actively working with stakeholders on issues and engaging with state and national media to ensure the profession’s voice is heard.

In recent times, we helped overturn a new state land tax regime that could have seriously damaged property investor confidence in Queensland, and worked with stakeholders and the government to ensure we had a fairer and more balanced outcome when new tenancy laws were passed in Parliament in 2021.
